The Tragic Optimist

colder than none?!?!?

My co-worker’s 5 year old daughter, Audrey, came to work today. As we were all heading to lunch, we were trying to convince her to wear her gloves and explain just how cold nine degrees below zero was.

“But zero is none!” she says. “Yeah, it is.” “So it’s nine degrees colder than none?!?” she asks. “…um, well, kind of.” “I don’t get it” she says softly.

Neither do I, kiddo, neither do I.

That is too funny! I guess 5 is a little early for comprehension of positive and negative integers! 😀

    Great post, Ann.

Why does everyone have fun lunch dates when I’m gone. 😉

  5. I wish I could tell her it gets easier, but sadly math just gets worse.
