The Tragic Optimist

Zoe at 20 months

Things she likes:

  • yogurt
  • books, books, and more books
  • swings
  • slides
  • bananas
  • mangoes
  • dogs (from a safe distance)
  • cats (close up and personal)

Things she does not like

  • diaper changes
  • mornings
  • you don’t even want to know what morning diaper changes are like
  • shoes while in the car

Things that make her laugh a big full-belly laugh

  • tackling mom or dad or otherwise seeing mom or dad fall down
  • watching her penguin fall off the counter
  • playing ring around the rosies
  • playing hide and go seek with grandpa
  • dad wearing Zoe’s pants on his head (to be fair, it was pretty funny)

Words that she says

  • mama, dada
  • hi, bye
  • glasses (“ga-go”)
  • milk (“meh-meh”)
  • banana (“anana”)
  • jacket
  • kitty cat
  • dog (“doh-doh”)
  • blanket
  • duck (“quack-quack”)
  • outside
  • please
  • cheese
  • socks (“gocks”)
  • car
  • (possibly others that she’s said only once or twice)

We visited the zoo today with Grandma. The monkeys, otters, birds, and fish tanks were a big hit. People watching was nearly as fun. She seemed to really like walking around and looking at everything.
