lucky

This year’s Common Reading book at Carleton is Mountains Beyond Mountains.  It’s a biography of Paul Farmer, a doctor specializing in infectious disease, who works with the poorest people around the world.  I picked it up this evening as I was nursing Zoe to sleep.  I read about the sick, impoverished children at his Haitian clinic, and then looked down at my quietly sleeping, well-fed daughter.  We’re so lucky.
